Our location in Northern BC’s Skeena Range, with its far north latitude and proximity to powerful Pacific storms, produces one the planet’s deepest, driest and most reliable snowpacks. The terrain here is big and wild–alpine bowls, immense glaciers, steep couloirs and epic tree skiing. This is big-mountain, backcountry skiing and snowboarding at its finest.
Our small groups of just five or six riders explore this vast white wonderland using the Italian-made Agusta Koala helicopter, the fastest and most agile machine in the business.

With quick access to our lodges from Terrace, BC, Northern Escape is easily BC’s most accessible heli ski and heli boarding operator. We’re one of the only operations to have snowcats at the ready, so you’re able to ride even on storm days when the machines can’t fly. Our new Mountain Lodge, opened in 2020, is among the most comfortable, boutique heli ski lodges you’ll find anywhere and we are one of the few heli operators worldwide to be certified carbon neutral. A quintessential Canadian mountain chalet, the Yellow Cedar Lodge is hand-crafted of heavy cedar timbers harvested from the surrounding forest. Situated on the banks of the Skeena River, one of BC’s top fly fishing destinations, the lodge accommodates just 18 guests in a remote setting. This boutique heli ski lodge makes the perfect base for exploring our mountains and features a sauna and hot tub, games room, gym, wifi and our outdoor Ullr Bar, which is buzzing at the end of each day’s riding with appies, drinks and friends new and old.
The Yellow Cedar Lodge received several upgrades in 2020, with refurbished rooms and a new, larger boot room. With multiple daily flights from Vancouver, and only 20mins shuttle from Terrace Airport, many Yellow Cedar/Classic guests love that they can leave their cities in Central and West Coast US, in mid-morning or early afternoon, and arrive at the lodge that evening for dinner.
